About SubsurfaceStudios

We are committed to bringing you diverse entertainment across all genres. Currently, you’ll find a collection of works by Nat Mahler here.

Nat has spent her little time on earth getting as much as possible done. She is currently based in Australia, in her second year of a Bachelor of Arts in Film Production, and attached to several student projects as a result. She has previously volunteered as a PA and extra on Sanguineti Media short film “Two Graves.”

Next to being focused on entertainment, she holds a PADI Divemaster certification, as well as being a CDAA-certified cave diver. She currently works with Ocean Heroes HQ to empower youth to campaign for the environment, is a registered Sea Shepherd volunteer, and volunteers with the Envoy: Shark Cull team to work towards ending Australia’s marine cull of 84 years.

In her free time, she enjoys watching TV and playing games, but you will also find her outside, diving, kayaking, rock climbing, or playing football. She is also a hobby photographer with a love for all kinds of imagery.

Our Logo and the Compass Rose

Our Logo was designed by long time friend and OHBC collaborator Lakshika Khurana. The choice to incorporate a compass rose was extremely important to me. My first job was on a boat, and I think it’s more than fair to call myself a seeker of adventure and exploration, having participated in diving, a sport that pushes boundaries like almost no other, and seeking out similar experiences such as canyoning, caving, rock climbing, kayaking etc.

But, it wasn’t just that. It was also about the world we live in. We have the opportunity to stand up for what we believe is right, and so I do. It’s as much about the metaphorical compass of life and morals as it is about the compass rose being a symbol of guidance.

As for our name, SubSurface Studios, it originated from a similar sentiment, my love for being under the water and below the earths surface, but also wanting to dig deeper than the obvious, and highlighting stories that got buried by our society or with time.
