Heart Of The

Nullarbor

Below The Plain

Heart Of The Nullarbor is a documentary feature that follows an expedition team of Australia’s best cave divers on their journey to dive the caves located in the Nullarbor Plain of South and Western Australia.

Nat Mahler started developing this film in mid-2021 after finally becoming a cave diver herself, delayed by a pandemic that continues impacting our daily lives, after having it brought to her attention how few people were aware of the wonders below the Nullarbor, and how few people ever got to see it due to its difficult access requirements and remoteness, some 2500km from Canberra.

Creating this film started almost as a joke, “hey, if I’m driving that far for some diving, and I may only get to go this one time, I should make a documentary” but the reality that we might have a real shot at creating something unique and incredible very quickly set in, so I got started.

Additional footage was set to start shooting already but delayed by the COVID lockdowns of NSW and ACT, so in the meantime, follow the development and process here, on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter; and here are some recommendations and a Spotify Playlist by Director and Producer Nat to keep you entertained in the meantime.
